The mission of the Pinckneyville Middle School Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive, student-oriented counseling and guidance program to all students. The program addresses concerns that relate to the academic, personal-social development, and career exploration of students, in accordance to the standard and competencies set by the Gwinnett County Public Schools’ Office of Advisement and Counseling.

Vision:

The Pinckneyville Middle School Counseling Department will become a key component in the assistance of the removal of barriers and creation of a safe, healthy environment for our lifelong learners to achieve their greatest potential in their academic careers as well as in becoming global citizens.

Beliefs:

The counselors of Pinckneyville Middle School believe that:

-          All students should be taught in a safe and secure learning environment.

-          All students should reach their learning potential.

-          Learning is a lifelong process involving the whole student in their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth.

-          Learning promotes intercultural understanding and respect.

-          Significant learning cannot take place without a significant relationship.

-          An education that extends beyond the classroom environment and allows students to develop lifelong skills that can assist them in the pursuit of their life goals is vital.

-          Learning requires the active participation, mutual respect, and individual accountability of students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.

-          A comprehensive counseling program engages students in classroom, group and/or individual activities to enhance student learning.

-          Data should be used to drive the counseling program development and evaluation, which we actively monitor student results.

-          Participating in professional development is essential to maintaining a high-quality school counseling program.
